Product Description
Gearing up for a new baby can be an overwhelming, expensive undertaking. "Baby Must-Haves" keeps it as simple (and affordable) as possible, presenting the collective expertise of the editors of "Parenting" magazine and hundreds of mums across the country. Organized according to product category, this full-colour, beautifully photographed portable reference gives the whole scoop on everything from nursery essentials and on-the-go gear to childproofing products and what-they-never-tell-you advice. Written with warmth and expertise, this guide offers not only where to find the best crib for your budget, but the best way to make it up (with an extra sheet in case of wee-hour nappy leaks!) to save time and make life with a baby easier, and more fun. Brand recommendations, hundreds of priceless tips, a "Skip, Save, or Splurge" feature, and photos throughout make this the must-have reference in the category. For over 20 years, "Parenting" magazine has been a must-have for all mums.

2 out of 5 stars Not very informative and includes "advertising"   December 3, 2008
Much less informative than Baby Bargains. Lots of glossy pictures and pretty fonts and not a lot of substance. Also, contains references to products which seem to have some affiliation with the magazine.

2 out of 5 stars Not Informative Enough   September 22, 2008
I found this book to have a lot of great colorful pictures but not enough product diversity or information. I found Baby Bargains to be the best consumer report book and Baby Lists to be the best all around registry resource and how to prepare book.

3 out of 5 stars Not what I had hoped...   August 26, 2008
As some other reviewers have noted, this book doesn't offer a lot of information about specific brands of products or specific recommendations for that matter. I would have liked that. And as a first-time parent, I would have appreciated more in terms of suggested lists. On the plus side, I did find a couple of helpful hints that we'll use and liked that it gives good guidance regarding what to look for in products (but I think you find comparable information through an internet search). I wish I had heard about the Baby Bargains book earlier - from what I've heard from other parents, that is more along the lines of what I needed.

3 out of 5 stars Very Basic   June 23, 2008
A good initial reference with nice photos of products. This in no way is a comprehensive list or review of products but a good way to get started. I was given this book as a gift and probably would not have purchased for myself.

3 out of 5 stars Maybe for First Time Parent   April 2, 2008

I am not a first-time mom, if I were I may have found this book more informative. I would stick to Consumer Reports Best Baby Products - then you will not only feel like you are making good choices but very responsible ones. I felt like Parenting's version was sometimes contradictory to what was safe and good for your baby. And don't get me wrong - I love Parenting magazine, but their book left me disappointed.
