Amazon.com Live and Swingin' is undoubtedly for those who already own some of the guys' worthier recordings. Oh, but the guys? Frank, Dean, and Sammy (or, as Jackie Mason had it on The Simpsons, "the Candy Man!") For most anyone who cares, though, this is a must-buy item: a slightly edited version of the 1962 Villa Venice tapes along with a DVD that preserves a rarely seen, full-length serious/funny/anarchic Rat Pack performance from '65. (For sentimentalists' sake, it was taped on Tina Sinatra's 17th birthday; she makes a brief appearance onstage with the fellas.) All kidding aside, the trio makes with the serious singing - though perhaps those who came to hear Sammy get through an entire mini-set without interruption will want to go elsewhere, as his partners' shtick barely allows him to finish a line, much less a song. Sinatra aficionados will find the DVD indispensable, as he paws his way through a mellow version of "My Kind of Town" (benefit location "St. Louis"!) and "Fly Me to the Moon." --Rickey Wright

Loved the DVD August 24, 2008 I am a huge fan of the Rat Pack. Let me say that this CD isnt as good as the one that was recorded Live at the Sands. Maybe because Ive heard the routines a million times. Dont get me wrong, I'm glad I bought it. The reason to buy this is the DVD. If you're a fan of the Rat Pack you need to have this in your collection.
Great gift! February 13, 2008 I purchased 4 of these for gifts. The two 20-somethings loved them and the 50 year old did too. I ended up keeping the 4th one for myself. Great music and great laughs!
If You Love the Ratpack, Then You Will Love This January 18, 2008 I purchased this set as a Christmas present for my father. He enjoyed watching the DVD section and now often puts it on as background when he is doing work in the living room or guests are over. He also enjoys the cd section. I myself am not much of a Ratpack fan, so the DVD section is not especially interesting to me, but if you enjoy the Ratpack (like my father), this set is great for you.
This is a must have! December 8, 2007 This is all that it appears to be and more. Timeless, classic, all of those things and more. If you are remotely interested in either or all of the three guys on this cd/dvd buy this album. FYI it doesn't mention that the Basie band is backing Sammy and Frank which was an added bonus for me anyway.
very very good July 5, 2007 I actually haven't heard it but it was bought as present for my father and his review of it was it's very good some of the banter between the three of them is priceless and a must for any fan of the rat pack.
