5 out of 5 stars Allows kids to swim more freely   June 15, 2008
I bought 2 of these for my daughters last summer they were 7 and 3. They both loved them! They position the kids to swim on there tummy but do not force the face in the water. My kids by the end of the summer were starting to swim on there own a little. This product also allows kids to move more freely and is not so cumbersome. My niece and nephew also borrowed them (they were 2 and 3) and they bought 2 this summer. As always kids need direct supervision while in the water with or without flotation devices.

5 out of 5 stars The best teaching tool ever!   May 13, 2008

This product forces a child to move their arms and legs to stay upright...therefore teaching them to swim all on its own. I took this on vacation for my 3 1/2 year old son and by the second day he was jumping off the side, going under and swimming to the other side of the pool with only this to help him. It gets an A+ from me. He felt very secure and I felt okay letting him be independent. It is not a life saving device, but it is definitely a "lifesaver" in my book.

5 out of 5 stars Love the Aqua Jogger Jr!   August 23, 2007
We love the Aqua Jogger Jr belt as it keeps my daughter afloat but allows her to practice her swimming skills as her arms are free and not constrained as in a lifevest. We were introduced to it by local YMCA for her swim lessons. I didn't know they made a Jr built until then as I have used the adult jogger belt in the past for practicing jogging in deep water when I have been injured from jogging on dry land.

5 out of 5 stars Aqua Jogger junior   July 5, 2007
My daughter is 3 1/2 years old. The Aqua Jogger is great since it keeps her afloat and she could move her arms freely. This makes her feel more confident in the water. Because of this she is not afraid of the water any longer and she is now learning how to swim. I love it!!!!!

Another customer rates this product poorly because it positions the child face down if they use it to learn to swim. As a swim school owner I can comment that the only way to properly swim is with the head down in the water. This is one of the main concepts of the Red Cross swim method and the Total Immersion swim method. So the Aqua Jogger Junior is positioning the child correctly but AN ADULT MUST ALWAYS BE PRESENT TO ASSIST THE CHILD WITH LIFTING OR TURNING THE HEAD TO BREATHE. "Floaties" on the other hand don't teach children to swim but to navigate around with the head up which doesn't work to teach proper swimming technique. The Aqua Jogger Junior should never be used as a lifesaving or water safety device (and "floaties" should not either as I have seen kids jump in and have "floaties" fall off more than once). Other products that properly position children to learn to swim (with an adult by their side) are Zoggs back floats and Water Gear back floats which have progressively removable layers of floatation.
