Excellent Work/Casual Shoe October 10, 2008
Overall - I typically don't go nuts over shoes; in fact, prior to owning this pair of Rockports I was a discount store devotee. However, I got a pair of chocolate-colored Rockport Margins as a gift back in February, and I am completely sold -I use them as my primary work shoes, but I've found that they're actually comfortable enough to walk around in and wear every day! If you need further proof, do a Google search of their Rockport item# (rockport 1184286) - you will NOT find these for less than $90 ANYWHERE, and they've been around for a long time, which demonstrates that they have a good reputation and a loyal following.
Toughness - I have gotten them wet, worn them in the snow and road salt, polished them incorrectly, worn them almost daily for eight months, gone walking on trails with them, worn them on the beach, walked through lower Manhattan with them, and they STILL LOOK GREAT!
Looks - the shoes are simple, conservative, and classic in design. They don't have ridiculously large heels, but at the same time they have a very refined profile. Their rich deep brown color complements both business and casual attire very nicely, and they can be worn for everything from late-night grocery runs to board meetings to romantic dinner dates.
Comfort - The single most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever worn, INCLUDING SNEAKERS. They're generously padded, and the arch support is PERFECT.
In Conclusion - if you are a man (or a woman who can pull off the look and knows how to convert between sizes - whatever floats your boat) and you want a GOOD pair of shoes which are still versatile and durable enough for everyday use, look no further. Don't be a cheapskate like I used to be and try to hit up the factory seconds/overstock type stores - spend the $90 and get this excellent pair of shoes!
